The coffee is good, but the cakes are the real reason I would plan a stop here. It is one of those places where choosing one cake feels unnecessarily difficult.

Stockton is well placed for rides around Southam, Napton, Long Itchington, Priors Marston and the lanes heading towards the canal and Burton Dassett. Josie's Place works particularly well if your route naturally passes through Stockton rather than needing a big detour. It is the kind of café I would use as a half-way stop on a local loop, especially when riding from Southam or linking the villages around this part of Warwickshire. The surrounding roads give you plenty of options, and Stockton itself is a useful point to build a ride around.
Food, coffee and facilities
The coffee is good, and the cakes are excellent. For me, the cakes are the highlight of Josie's Place. Reviews also mention the quality of the food, friendly service and its compact, cosy feel. I would think of Josie's primarily as a coffee-and-cake stop rather than a long sit-down refuel. That is partly because the café is small and partly because the cakes are clearly one of its strongest reasons to visit. There are only a limited number of tables inside and a few outside, so it can fill up quickly, especially at the weekend.
Bike-friendliness
Josie's Place is popular with cyclists and there is a small bike rack, which immediately makes it more useful than cafés where you have to improvise somewhere to leave the bike. The main limitation is space. Because the café is small and there are only a few outside tables, it is better suited to solo riders, pairs or small groups than a large club ride. If several cyclists arrive at once on a busy weekend, seating could easily become an issue. That said, it feels like cyclists are a normal part of the customer base. They even go as far as celebrating the Tour de France every year by decorating the cafe with cycling memorabilia. Make sure you check this out if you get chance, I am told there are a few freebies given away to cyclists and who doesn't love a freebie?!?
Is it worth the detour?
Yes, if cake is part of the plan. Josie's Place is not a big destination café in the way that The View or Hilltop might be, and it is not set up for cyclists in the same deliberate way as Gilks. Its appeal is different: a small village café with good coffee, excellent cakes and a location that works nicely for local south Warwickshire loops. I would not aim a large group ride at it on a busy weekend unless I was prepared to wait or sit outside, but for a smaller ride it is absolutely worth including.

But if you are riding through Stockton and want coffee and cake, this is exactly the sort of local stop that makes a café ride worthwhile.
