Ccrumbs

A small, independent village café in a peaceful, enclosed courtyard in Eydon — just over the Warwickshire border — with quiet approach roads, excellent cakes, good coffee and proper bike parking. Opened in mid-2026 and already a firm favourite.

Why cyclists like it

Ccrumbs is a brilliant new village café in Eydon, just over the Warwickshire border in Northamptonshire. With quiet approach roads, a relaxed courtyard setting, excellent cakes, good coffee and proper bike parking, it already feels like a fantastic addition to any longer ride. What really stood out, though, was the welcome from Carlene, the owner, who served me during my visit. She was incredibly friendly, warm and genuinely pleased to chat, creating the kind of personal welcome that makes a café feel special from the moment you arrive.

First impression

Ccrumbs feels like exactly the sort of café Ride Coffee Return should be looking for: small, independent, tucked away in a village and genuinely welcoming to cyclists. It has only been open for around three months, but it already feels confident, well thought out and ready to become a favourite stop for local riders. The setting works particularly well too. The café sits in a courtyard-style space, enclosed and away from the road, with plenty of outdoor seating. It is a relaxed place to arrive by bike, settle down with a coffee and enjoy a proper break. There is no need to balance a bike against a wall or sit miles away from it while keeping one eye on the road.

The ride there

Eydon is technically in Northamptonshire rather than Warwickshire, so Ccrumbs sits just outside the usual Ride Coffee Return area. That said, it is close enough to make perfect sense as a destination for longer rides from south Warwickshire, particularly routes heading out through the lanes beyond Southam, Priors Marston, Byfield or towards the Northamptonshire/Oxfordshire border. The approach roads are quiet, which adds to the appeal. This is exactly the kind of café that gives you a reason to extend a familiar Warwickshire loop and explore a little further into the surrounding countryside. Because it sits just outside the core Warwickshire area, I would describe Ccrumbs as a café worth crossing the border for. It is not simply a convenient stop if you happen to pass nearby; it is good enough to help shape the route itself.

Food, coffee and facilities

The menu is simple, focusing on sandwiches and cakes rather than a large cooked breakfast or lunch menu. For a café ride, that works very well. Ccrumbs feels ideal for coffee, cake and a lighter lunch, with enough choice to make it a worthwhile stop without losing the relaxed character of the place. The coffee was good, but the cake was the real highlight. I had a raspberry and pistachio Bakewell, which was excellent, and I also took home a pain suisse for my wife. Both were memorable enough to make me want to return and try more of the selection. The quality of the baking gives Ccrumbs a real point of difference. If the cakes remain at this standard, it could quickly become one of those places riders recommend specifically because the food is worth the trip.

Bike-friendliness

Ccrumbs is very well set up for cyclists. There is a bike rack with space for around four to six bikes, and the courtyard layout makes the whole stop feel secure and relaxed. The outdoor seating is another major strength. There is plenty of room to sit outside, and because the courtyard is enclosed and away from the road, it is easy to keep an eye on the bikes while enjoying a break. This setup would work well for solo riders, pairs or a small group. A larger club ride may depend on how busy the café is, but the space and layout certainly make it feel more cyclist-friendly than many village cafés.

Is it worth the detour?

Yes — absolutely. Ccrumbs is not in Warwickshire, so it will not be part of every local ride. But if your route is heading towards Eydon, Byfield or the quieter lanes beyond Southam, it is more than worth considering. The combination is excellent: quiet roads, a peaceful courtyard setting, proper bike parking, very good cake and good coffee. Plenty of cafés can serve a decent coffee, but the setting, baking and overall atmosphere make Ccrumbs feel like a place worth returning to.

Ride Coffee Return verdict

Ccrumbs is a fantastic new addition to the wider Ride Coffee Return map. Although it is technically in Northamptonshire, it sits close enough to south Warwickshire to be a realistic and rewarding destination for longer rides across the county border. First impressions are excellent. The café has a lovely setting, proper bike facilities, excellent cakes and a relaxed atmosphere. For riders willing to stretch beyond Warwickshire, Ccrumbs is absolutely one to add to the list. It is the kind of independent café that gives a ride a destination, and one I would be very happy to return to.
